A chemical company and one of China's largest comprehensive chemical logistics service providers, Group Holdings Limited, recently signed a memorandum of cooperation in Tianjin, planning to jointly build X's Chemical Tianjin Logistics Center in Nangang Industrial Zone, Binhai New Area, Tianjin. The project is planned to invest 200 million US dollars and will become X's first chemical logistics center in China, as well as X's largest chemical logistics center globally. This project will serve as a strategic logistics center, providing strong support for X's sustained and strong business growth in Greater China and North Asia.
Shi Botao, President of X Chemical Greater China, said, "X Chemical is increasing investment in China, strengthening localized production and supply chain networks, accelerating our development in China, and the Tianjin logistics center will play a strategic role to better meet the needs of the local market. As a crucial logistics center, this project will ensure that we can quickly and efficiently transport chemical raw materials and finished products from overseas to the corresponding regions in Greater China
It is reported that the Tianjin Logistics Center project covers an area of 50 hectares and has direct access to deep-water areas and railway systems. The annual cargo throughput can reach 6 to 9 million tons. When fully constructed and put into use, the center will require the employment of over 300 skilled technicians. The Tianjin logistics center will also adopt advanced design and high industry standards to ensure the safety and environmental friendliness of its daily operations.
X Chemical and Group will submit a project application for government approval in the second half of this year. The first phase of the project is expected to be put into operation in 2016. At the same time, the project also requires land space for expansion, which can be expanded into X's future logistics center on the eastern coast to support the company's future investment and development in China.
Currently, X is vigorously strengthening its supply chain system in China. In April of this year, X collaborated with Tata Information Technology to open a business service center in Tianjin, in order to further enhance its extraordinary business operation capabilities and better serve X's customers in China, X's various business departments, and joint ventures.
It is reported that X's sales in Greater China reached a new high in 2010, exceeding 4 billion US dollars, and are expected to maintain double-digit growth in the coming years. Currently, Greater China is X's second largest international market worldwide, with 18 production bases and 6 business centers.
